Typically, a car will vent 2% to 4% of refrigerant a year through its rubber seals and flexible hoses. This is entirely normal and does mean that a system will lose around 20% of its charge over a 4 - 6 year time period and then need topping off with fresh refrigerant to restore efficient cooling.
